Have you been struggling since the death of your loved one? Come and join others who have also experienced bereavement on this supported retreat to help you find positive strategies to support you with your life-changing loss. Through a variety of activities, including led sessions, creative writing and quiet reflection, the territory of grief will be explored. Whatever the circumstances, there is always a glimmer of light displacing the darkness and we will share observations on how to find it. We will explore helpful tools that we can access and utilise. Through sharing as much or as little as you wish, this is a gentle retreat with a Christian perspective, sensitively led and suitable for any who have lost a loved one.

Andrea Corrie
Bampton-based author Andrea Corrie realised the power of writing as a tool for processing grief following the loss of her nineteen-year-old son James to accidental drowning in 2005. She has published two books, Into the Mourning Light in 2014 and Living in the Mourning Light in 2020. The positive narration in both books focuses on the attributes of hope, light, love, faith, resilience and joy. Andrea gives secular and faith-based presentations and workshops, sharing her insights into the grieving process. On this retreat she is working alongside her friend Linda Sewell who is similarly bereaved, and who is a professional independent celebrant. Andrea is a water safety advocate for the RNLI and Fire and Rescue Services, committed to raising awareness of the importance of reducing the incidence of drowning, and she was honoured with a British Empire Medal in 2023 in recognition of her efforts in this regard. Andrea views this with great pride and as a poignant element of James’s legacy.
