Bampton-based author Andrea Corrie realised the power of writing as a tool for processing grief following the loss of her nineteen-year-old son James to accidental drowning in 2005.
She has published two books, Into the Mourning Light in 2014 and Living in the Mourning Light in 2020. The positive narration in both books focuses on the attributes of hope, light, love, faith, resilience and joy.
Andrea gives secular and faith-based presentations and workshops, sharing her insights into the grieving process. On this retreat she is working alongside her friend Linda Sewell who is similarly bereaved, and who is a professional independent celebrant.
Andrea is a water safety advocate for the RNLI and Fire and Rescue Services, committed to raising awareness of the importance of reducing the incidence of drowning, and she was honoured with a British Empire Medal in 2023 in recognition of her efforts in this regard. Andrea views this with great pride and as a poignant element of James’s legacy.
Andrea Corrie is not due to speak in the coming programme. But we're sure there'll be someone else you'd like instead!
