If you have a disability, we aim to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as we can – no need to feel ‘disabled’! In particular, we provide the following:

  • A hearing loop system in our two main meeting rooms
  • lift serving the ground, first and second floors (but not the third floor, so please check when you book)
  • Three en-suite bedrooms with wet rooms suitable for people with a disability
  • A public fully-equipped bathroom that’s accessible to all
  • Ramps linking the Dining Room, Octagonal Lounge and Gallery
  • Level access to extra relaxing areas of the first floor following our refurbishment

“A wonderfully welcoming place. Being in a wheelchair has been no problem.”

Having said that, the layout of this Victorian building can make wheelchair access to some areas of the House difficult. The lift does not reach the third floor so if you need to avoid climbing stairs, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can prepare you a room most suited to your needs.

We have a special version of our House Map that highlights accessible areas and routes:

Bring your own carer

We are unable to offer health care ourselves, so if you need this attention you can bring your carer with you and your carer can have a 20% discount off the full brochure price. (We may ask you to prove their status as a carer.)

Special diets, allergies, mobility and other needs

Our mission at Lee Abbey is to make sure all our guests are supported, encouraged and well looked after during their stay, and we’ll do everything we reasonably and practically can to achieve that.

So if you need a special diet or have allergies, mobility, hearing or sight impairments, please let us know before you come so we can prepare for your stay. Tell the bookings team the details in writing, as well as on the registration form at least 30 days prior to your visit. All such information will be treated in confidence.

Regarding allergies…

Of course we’ll make every effort to meet every guest’s individual needs, but we can’t guarantee that Lee Abbey will be allergy free, as there are too many variables over which we have no control. Sadly, we are not able to guarantee one-to-one support in any circumstances.

Please give details of any special needs you have on the booking form or speak to our team on 01598 752621 if you’d like to discuss how we can help.
