Even though Lee Abbey is remote, you can get to us by public transport.
You can either use our taxi service from Taunton (which must be booked in advance), or find your own way via train and bus, perhaps using a Lynton taxi for the last mile and a half.
Our Taunton taxi pickup
On the arrival and departure dates of all published conferences, Lee Abbey offers a discounted taxi service collecting from Taunton coach- and rail stations (at 3.40 and 4.00pm, respectively), and returning to Taunton by 11.30am for all conferences EXCEPT Friday to Sunday weekends when it will be 4.30pm. This service must be pre-booked and paid for before your arrival date.
RAIL – please wait in the lounge on Platform 2.
COACH – bus shelter in Castle Way a short walk from National Express drop off point.
The taxi cost one way is £22.00 and the price includes either 1 suitcase or 1 holdall per person. If you are bringing extra luggage, a guide dog or a wheelchair, please let the Bookings Team know in advance as this may incur an extra cost.
If you are delayed, you will need to make your own arrangements to get to Lee Abbey. No refund can be made.
Train, coach and bus
- Catch a bus to Lynton. The 309/310 service runs Mon-Sat to/from Barnstaple Bus Station (around half a mile from the railway station). For times, visit the Traveline South West website, click “Timetable Lookup” and enter the location “Lynton”. Lynton is 1½ miles from Lee Abbey; see below for taxi information.
- Or order a taxi to Lee Abbey. It is cheaper to pre-book a Lynton taxi (if one is available) to collect you from Barnstaple than to use a Barnstaple taxi.
