As the country joined weekly to clap for our Key Workers, here at Lee Abbey Devon, we wondered, how might we bless Key Workers as lockdown eases?
Lee Abbey Devon is a Christian Community that has been welcoming guests for over 74 years to join in inspiring worship, prayer and teaching. Whether it’s as part of an ‘Individually Guided Retreat’, ‘Walk and Talk’ or a family themed break, the lives of guests and Community have been transformed as they have encountered God.
Whilst like many places we have pivoted and had to adapt to the changes 2020 has brought, we remain true to our vision of seeing the Church renewed, lives transformed and people encountering God.
The challenge of offering this ministry of hospitality with a smaller Community needed some creative thinking, which led us to identify a unique opportunity through which to bless Key Workers.
Our Key Workers’ contributions to the wellbeing of the country has been hugely significant in recent months. The reality of COVID has been with us for over five months, and whilst aspects of life are returning to a ‘new normal’, many people are now feeling the need to rest, retreat and be refreshed.
Lee Abbey is well known for being a place of rest, retreat and refreshment, so we’re delighted that we’re able to open two additional self-catering properties on our Estate, specifically for Key Workers. Recognising our response is faith based, we go forward in faith, believing others too will want to bless our Key Workers; so we’ve launched a Self Catering Retreat at just £60 per night. Our bursary fund will make this possible and we’re looking for supporters to help us raise the £23,640 needed. Could you help bless a Key Worker?
