The Team keep ‘the show on the road’ and whether you have been on Team for eons or are brand new, you are welcome. Each year Team bring new ideas, energy and approaches to all that we do – keeping us fresh and inspired!

This form is a chance for you to tell us a bit about yourself so that we can help work out, with you, whether joining Team this year would be the right thing for you, and for us. But before you tell us about you, why don’t we tell you about us!

As a camp team, we see ourselves as a community connected together – with the Lord’s Grace – by our mission and our values. Our mission is our reason for existing – it is why we run camp:

Our mission is to challenge and transform young people to discover their own true identity in Christ and in community, equipping them to live out the generous love of God.

Our seven values are what makes us special; they define who we are. If you are new to The Field, and you want to know what we stand for – our values should tell you. As well as helping you to understand The Field and describe The Field, our values should guide you when you are trying to make a decision about what to do.

Reality: We won’t hide who we are – with all our flaws and failings, because God loves us as we are.
Generous community: We live our lives together and share ourselves with each other. It is a big ask and daily surrender to the Holy Spirit as a Team and individuals is the only way – it is costly stuff!
Simplicity: We live simply – an open fire, coal-fired boilers, shared tents, hot but basic showers. And it’s worth it – without the layers of complexity and pressure of normal life, we make space for God.
Acceptance and healing: Camp is a safe place of unconditional love in which people are valued and enabled to find acceptance and healing.
Creativity: We allow each other to be spontaneous and creative and to allow the surrounding beauty to inspire us. We want to reflect the creativity of our father – the Creator.
Space and beauty: We provide space for campers to be. To enjoy and breathe in the beauty of the creation. The wow factor of the site shouts of the glory of God.
Laughter: We take God’s calling seriously, but we don’t take ourselves seriously. We believe in a God who has a great sense of humour.

As a community we also hold a responsibility to the wider Lee Abbey community, the Church of England (who ultimately commissions us) and to those who come on The Field. In this context, as a community working with young people we uphold Christ’s teachings.

Last but not least

It is expected that Team will be on The Field for the full duration of the camp – if you cannot do that please speak to Fran and Chris.

There are various meetings through the year for Team to attend:

‘Pre-prep’ in Feb – not compulsory but good and fun! We begin to plan for the summer.

‘Prep’ in May (at Chris and Fran’s in London) – it is expected that Team come to this meeting if possible.

‘Set up week’ in the days leading up to The Field. Good honest hard work as we set up the site for The Field. Come along! (Talk to Fran or Chris for more details.)
