Return of the Prodigal – The Robe, the Ring and a pair of Sandals: Clay Retreat

22–26 June 2026 (Mon–Fri)

If ever there was a story of grace, this is it! We will be looking at the significance of the Father’s gifts to the son who has come back home to him in Luke 15. Gifts representing restored status, identity and purpose within the family. Expect some teaching, much reflection, some sharing and some making in air-dry clay.

Who's speaking?

Janey Petterson

With a background in photography and drama, Janey got her hands into clay about 12 years ago. Initially inspired to focus on the similarities between the properties of clay and the human spirit, the work developed into a series of retreats, underpinned by scripture and using clay to embody the theme of the retreat. Retreats to date have included themes as diverse as Unity, Loss, Sacrifice, Sanctuary and Security. For two subsequent years at Lee Abbey, we covered all the weapons of the armour of God from Ephesians. A comment from last year’s retreat, “Janey’s excellent teaching followed by a time of listening to music and a period of silence before we made each piece helped to connect the head to the heart and finally reflect on the theme of the day. Creativity within the group blossomed over the three days and sharing testimonies further enhanced the experience.”
