Jesus in Every Story

10–14 February 2025 (Mon–Fri)

‘There is only one big meta-narrative wired into the universe: God’s redemption of the race of creatures he made a little lower than the angels’.

Whether it’s a film, a novel, or a life story, every story has themes. Those themes are usually, in the end, to do with connection, identity, death and redemption. From the earliest communities discovered, humans have been sharing stories to help make sense of life. Whether it’s the Greek myths, Medieval legends, romantic fiction of post-modern fractured prose, our little stories have been attempting to frame the Big Story – and trying to work out exactly what that might be. In Jesus in Every Story, Andy Kind will lead us through books, movies, myths and testimony, and show us how, in fact, Jesus is present in all of them, either obviously or through an unfulfilled longing of the main character.

Who's speaking?

Andy Kind

Andy Kind is a writer, comedian and preacher. He is fascinated with how stories are created, told, changed and passed on. He has been a professional comedian for 20 years, has been preaching since 2016, and has written 7 books so far. He also hosts the occasional podcast and debate. He currently lives in Stoke-on-Trent from where he originally hails. He drives too much, homeschools his girls, likes long walks, short stories, strong coffee and old whiskey. This will be his third consecutive year at Lee Abbey. It’s almost certainly his favourite abbey.
