God’s Two Books

29 Jun–3 Jul 2026 (Mon–Fri)

The idea of God’s nature and character as revealed through two books – scripture and nature – goes back to St Augustine and implicitly to Paul’s epistles. So, why do we only focus on one in church? We’ll explore how studying creation and the bible together deepens our understanding of God, ourselves and our place in the world. This week will bring Lee Abbey’s beautiful estate and the great truths of the bible together, as we explore both using theology, science, prayer, poetry and art.

Who's speaking?

Dave Bookless

Dave Bookless writes and speaks widely on creation care. He is Head of Theology for A Rocha International (www.arocha.org), a Catalyst for Creation Care with the Lausanne Movement and works with others to embed ecotheology in ministerial training around the world. He’s also a birder and bird-ringer with a love for wildlife and wild places. He and his wife Anne are both ordained Anglicans and live in multiracial Southall, where Anne is Rector of St Mary’s Norwood Green and speaks and writes on issues of disability, drawing on her experience of ME.
